![]() ![]() ![]() So Willis’ son is killed in a botched raid by the local police. I would say it’s better than some of the other whoopers that have been made using his name to cash in, but let me reiterate that’s not an endorsement that you should rush out and watch this. It’s a disposable, forgettable action yarn, with nothing remotely interesting happening from start to finish. It might seem like an interesting take watching yet another Die Hard knock off with Willis playing the villain, but it’s not. Willis fans hoping for a quality, entertaining film from him would be the only ones getting the shaft.Īlas, that’s exactly what Deadlock is. Willis would make a quick payday and Emmett would have a product with a high-profile star to sell around the world. It’s a pretty bizarre partnership, but beneficial to both Willis and Emmett. The films would then be filled in around his small scenes and his name and face would help sell and promote them. Rather than lengthy shoots and demanding performances, Willis would don an earpiece, recite his lines, shoot his scenes for a day or two (in some instances only a few hours) and earn a cool million bucks or two. Signing deals with schlock producer Randall Emmet, they’ve churned out a chorus line of forgettable, B-grade flicks, that Willis at his height of his career, wouldn’t even flinch at turning down.īut things changed. His involvement is used as the selling point, since they don’t contain anything else worth mentioning.įans have learned the reason why Willis has been doing these subpar films and why he looks so listless in them, when the news came out he was suffering from aphasia and he would be retiring from acting.įor the last few years, while dealing with issues with his memory, he took on an assembly line of acting jobs that were not demanding and would pay big. The only attraction is that Willis is starring – or more like ‘appearing’ in them. If you’ve seen any of them – better that you don’t – you’ll understand. Willis in Cosmic SinĪll have these low-grade movies Willis has done all have these ‘cool’ action-y type names – Apex, A Day To Die, Survive the Game – and they’re all pretty much unwatchable garbage. Likewise, Essel Group-backed Siti Networks didn’t toe the official AIDCF line by going ahead and signing fresh agreements with the broadcasters.ĭon’t miss out on ET Prime stories! Incidentally, IndiaCast Media Distribution, the content monetisation arm of TV18 and Viacom18, has broken ranks with the IBDF as it has not switched off the signals of its channels. The AIDCF filed an application on February 16 within the main petition seeking relief from any adverse action by the broadcasters. ![]() The IBDF had earlier claimed that over 80% of distribution platforms barring a few AIDCF members have signed deals with broadcasters.Īfter issuing disconnection notices on February 15, the broadcasters disconnected the TV channel signals on February 17. The broadcasters have argued that the price hike is nominal and comes after a three-year embargo on broadcast tariffs due to litigation around NTO 2.0. As per market estimates, monthly TV bills will increase by Rs 25-50. The MSO body has argued that the price hike by the broadcasters will lead to subscriber churn. The AIDCF has sought a stay on the NTO 3.0 till the matter is pending in the Kerala HC. The three broadcasters had switched off signals of their channels to AIDCF members as the latter had refused to ink content deals as per the NTO 3.0 notified by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The Tamil Nadu government-owned MSO Arasu Cable TV Corporation is also believed to have signed the agreement under the amended regulations. In fact, KCCL is the other litigant in the Kerala HC apart from AIDCF. It is pertinent to note that a few AIDCF members like UCN Cable and Kerala Communicators Cable Limited (KCCL) have gone ahead and signed the agreements as per the NTO 3.0 since there is no stay on the operation of the regulation. Both sides have engaged high-profile lawyers like former Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi and Abhishek Manu Singhvi to fight their cases. The Kerala High Court has been adjourning the matter without granting any interim relief to the AIDCF. According to sources following the case, the AIDCF, IBDF, TRAI, and a few individual broadcasters have concluded their pleadings. Even as the two sides have smoked the peace pipe, the Kerala High Court is hearing the NTO 3.0 matter daily. ![]()
